Greenpeace International (GPI) is looking for an internationally and multiculturally oriented Global Learning and Development Manager to contribute to the creation and delivery of learning and development programmes that align with our objectives and meet the specific training needs of units and departments across the organisation.

Acting as a strategic advisor and partner to stakeholders both in GPI and the Greenpeace Global Network, you will develop and manage learning interventions and professional development strategies for the Global Learning and Development (L&D) Unit, in close collaboration with other L&D team members and the wider stakeholder group. You will act as a partner to support L&D colleagues in NROs across the Global Greenpeace Network as required, to develop and deliver localised content to meet specific needs. You will also be enabling the support and direct delivery of learning programs to National and Regional Organisations (NROs), championing an effective and empowering learning culture at all levels.

In this Global Learning and Development Manager role you will:

  • Contribute to the development and realisation of the overall L&D strategy.
  • Build/maintain relationships with stakeholders across GPI, NROs, training providers, trainers and trainees.
  • Advise stakeholders on emerging organisational priorities (e.g., Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Safety (JEDIS), wellbeing and digital transformation) and how to develop appropriate learning journeys.
  • Advise and assist NROs on development and delivery of localised learning programmes and development pathways.
  • Support collaboration among NROs and act as a liaison between Global L&D and assigned NROs.
  • Contribute to design and development of programmes and interventions, including learning materials (e-courses, trainers notes, curriculum docs for stakeholders) and budget preparation/monitoring.
  • Provide overall programme management and coordination for organisational learning journeys and interventions and engage in strategic discussions with other Programme Managers.
  • Ensure published learning materials meet legal unit guidance and are curated in our internal Learning Management System.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders and partners on recruitment and selection of participants for training programmes.
  • Support the further development of trainees by one-on-one mentoring and/or coaching sessions.
  • Demonstrate and model the Greenpeace networks unique brand identity and apply this logic to L&D undertakings.
  • Lead the engagement planning, developing and strengthening of our internal Communities of Practice.
  • Review/redesign learning interventions based on changing needs and external environment.
  • Establish appropriate evaluation and monitoring processes to ensure we are able to demonstrate return on learning for our stakeholders.

  • A track record of success in developing, delivering, administering and/or evaluating L&D initiatives.
  • Experience in contemporary adult education theory and practice, online learning design or coaching and mentoring.
  • Understanding of organisational development, with experience of facilitating strategic initiatives and ability to maintain an inclusive, people-focused approach.
  • Experience in a global context, working across borders, with multicultural and diverse teams.
  • Good organising and conflict resolution skills, with a high level understanding of confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, with a good understanding of project management lifecycles.
  • Digital literacy with ability to host/manage content and communication on our online learning platform.
  • Ability to work effectively within tight deadlines, time zone challenges and stressful conditions.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (additional languages spoken at a professional level an advantage).
  • Demonstrable support for and belief in the Greenpeace network’s core aims and values.
